What is new in Sayso

Every release, newest first, and what it means for you. We ship small and often.

  1. Recording starts the moment you press the button

Small frictions that were getting in the way of a good answer, removed.

    • Recording starts without the wait

Pressing “Start recording” used to pause while we did some setup in the background, which felt long on a slow connection. That setup now happens alongside the microphone opening, so you can start talking straight away.

    • Enter no longer skips you ahead

Pressing Enter while typing an answer used to jump to the next question before you had finished. It now just adds a new line, the way you would expect.

    • Typing and recording on the same question

If you recorded an answer and then typed a note as well, the recording could get lost. Both are now kept.

    • Cleaner sign-in and sign-up

The pages for signing in, creating an account and resetting a password have a fresh, simpler look.

  2. Easier to finish, harder to lose anything

A rebuilt homepage, dashboard and answering experience, focused on getting people all the way to the end.

    • A redesigned way to answer

The answering experience was rebuilt so people are more likely to reach the end, with one clear question at a time.

    • Recordings survive pressing Continue

Moving to the next question no longer risks the recording you just made. What you said stays saved.

    • See what is still blank before you send

Before submitting, you are shown which questions have not been answered yet, so nothing gets sent half-finished by accident.

    • Re-recording gives you a clean take

When you record an answer again, the new take no longer ends with leftovers from the one you replaced.

    • See what talking saves you

The homepage now shows how much time and effort talking saves compared with typing.

    • New guides and use cases

New articles and pages on getting better answers from clients, and how agencies and product teams use Sayso.

    • A refreshed dashboard

The dashboard was rebuilt so it is quicker to see what has come back and what needs your attention.

  3. Every recording gets a proper write-up

Transcripts and summaries now reliably appear for the answers people record.

    • Full transcripts and summaries, every time

Some recordings were showing only a rough draft of the words and no summary. Every recorded answer now gets a cleaned-up transcript and a short summary, so you can skim what was said and read the exact words when you need them.

  4. Test your microphone, and send one link to many people

Fixes for the moments that made answering or signing in frustrating.

    • A microphone check before you record

Right after “About you”, you can pick which microphone to use and see it respond as you speak. No more recording with the wrong device and finding out afterwards.

    • Email a shared link to a list of people

For an Ask that anyone can open with one link, you can now email that link to a whole list at once.

    • Go where you tapped

Choosing a question from the list now takes you to that question, not somewhere nearby.

    • Signing in works properly

Signing in, creating an account and resetting a password could get stuck on “Signing in…” when something was wrong. You now see a clear message straight away instead.

    • Sending your answers no longer fails

Some people saw “Submit failed” right at the end. That is fixed, so finishing goes through.

    • Problems we used to miss now get fixed sooner

We now notice when something goes wrong for someone answering, even if they never tell us, so we can fix it quickly.

    • Visit counts that respect your privacy

We now count visits to our public pages without cookies and without following anyone around. It never runs on the private link someone uses to answer.

  5. Free to start, and one link for everyone

Anyone can try Sayso, and there is a new way to collect answers from a crowd.

    • Create an account and start for free

No invitation needed. The free plan lets you build and send up to 3 Asks, with every recording safely kept.

    • Transcripts and summaries on the paid plan

Upgrade whenever you are ready and every recording is written up for you, as text you can read, quote and share.

    • One link, open to everyone

A new way to send an Ask: a single link anyone can open, where every visitor gives their own separate answer. Ideal for a post, a newsletter or an event.

    • Clear, secure payments

Subscribing and paying now runs on live, secure checkout, with your receipts and plan in one place.

    • Try it, rather than wait for it

The “join the waitlist” buttons are now “try it”, taking you straight into the product.

  6. Your screen stays on while you talk

A small change that matters on a phone.

    • No more screen going dark mid-answer

While you record, your screen now stays awake, so a long answer is not cut short because your phone fell asleep.

  7. Typed answers are saved as you type

Nothing you write should be lost to a closed tab.

    • Saved while you write, not only when you stop

Typed answers are now saved as you go. If your tab closes or your battery dies mid-thought, you lose a sentence at most, not the whole answer.

  8. A clearer homepage

The story of what Sayso does, told more simply.

    • Rewritten homepage

We rewrote the homepage so it is quicker to understand what Sayso is for and whether it fits what you need.

  9. Ready for real customers

The pieces that make Sayso something you can rely on and pay for.

    • One simple paid plan

A single plan, with a founder price locked in for as long as you stay.

    • Password reset and account settings

Forgot your password? You can now reset it yourself, and manage your account from a settings page.

    • Emails when you are invited and when you join

You get an email when you are invited to Sayso, and a welcome email once you have joined.

    • Terms, privacy and refund pages

Plain-English pages explaining what we keep, why, and how to have it removed.

    • A faster dashboard

Moving around your dashboard no longer waits on a fresh load every time.

    • Your plan is always right

We now check your payment status at the source, so what you can access always matches what you have paid for.

  10. Send to many, and read the responses more easily

Sending an Ask and reading what comes back both got simpler.

    • Send an Ask to many people at once

Add a list of people and each one gets their own private link, so you always know who said what.

    • Separate tabs for sending and reading

Everything to do with sending an Ask, and everything to do with its responses, now has its own place.

    • Review your Ask section by section

Before you send, the check step shows the Ask one section at a time, so it is easy to spot anything you want to change.

    • Honest messages when recording fails

If a microphone will not start, you are now told exactly why and what to try, and you can send us feedback in one tap.

    • Join the early list

The public pages became visible to search engines, and people could ask to hear when Sayso opened up.

  11. Build an Ask and send it

The tools to create, send and review.

    • An Ask builder

Write your own questions, or start from a ready-made template.

    • A guided way to send

A short walkthrough for sending an Ask to someone by link or by email.

    • Read and correct transcripts

See what people said, listen back, and fix anything that was heard wrong.

    • A smoother feel

Clear loading states and gentle page transitions, so it always looks like something is happening.

  12. Sayso begins

The first version: people answer out loud, and Sayso writes it up.

    • Answer by talking

One question at a time, on screen, answered out loud instead of typed.

    • Your words as you speak

A live transcript appears while you talk, so you can see you were understood.

    • Recording that does not give up

Audio is saved on your device as you speak and sent when the connection allows, so a dropped signal does not cost you an answer. You can even start recording while offline.

    • A dashboard for the person asking

A private place to see every response as it arrives.
